Paslode® PowerFramer™ 350 Nails Durability, Performance and Comfort
New pneumatic framer reflects two years of development and user feedback .
(VERNON HILLS, IL) – When Paslode® set out to design the best performing production framing tool in the world, engineers stepped away from the drawing board and onto the jobsite. The result, two years later, is a pneumatic framer that has both broken the mold and shattered expectations.
“We re-engineered everything from the inside out with this one and ignored any preconceived notions about what a production framing tool should be,” says Paslode product manager Pat Talano. “Framing pros throughout the United States told us what they wanted, and we turned that feedback into the most advanced framing tool ever built.”
Paslode’s visits with production framing contractors nationwide revealed that users wanted their tools to be durable, lightweight, well balanced and powerful. The company gave them what they wanted, a purpose-built tool that exceeded their expectations in each category – the Paslode PowerFramer™ 350 30-degree framing nailer.
Durability and Reliability
One of Paslode’s goals during the product development process was to determine the average number of fasteners driven by most production framers during a typical year. Based on that research, the PowerFramer 350 is engineered to deliver more than 18 months of service before requiring maintenance. The PowerFramer 350 is also designed to give users a tool life of more than five years.
Production framers can’t afford downtime. So the Paslode PowerFramer 350 is also rugged, built to perform even after a two-story drop. Even the distinctive “grill” pattern on the front of the tool’s housing has a purpose – to reinforce one of the most vulnerable parts of any pneumatic tool. Paslode is so confident in the tool’s durability that the company offers a one-year service-free guarantee and a five-year limited warranty on the product.
Weight and Balance
Through advanced engineering techniques that allocated additional material to high-stress areas of the tool while trimming bulk from others, Paslode built a framer that’s a full pound lighter than its predecessor, the PowerMaster Plus, which was already one of the lightest 3.5” framers on the market. What’s more, Paslode took care to also build a tool that is balanced to a tee. The result is that the PowerFramer 350 feels even lighter in use than its 7.5 pounds would suggest.
The lighter weight and greater balance work in tandem with comfort features - cushioned grip surface, ergonomically designed trigger – to make the PowerFramer 350 comfortable enough for all day/every day use. Not only is the tool more comfortable and easier on the user’s wrists and hands, the changes also make Paslode’s latest offering more maneuverable and easier to control.
Power
Engineered lumber (LVLs, stacked lumber, etc.) isn’t going away anytime soon. Paslode’s engineers knew this before they hit the road. What their jobsite visits taught them, however, was that existing framing nailers simply weren’t getting the job done.
“On every jobsite we visited, we saw framing contractors hand nailing because their pneumatic framers were not powerful enough to consistently drive a three-inch nail into denser engineered lumber products,” says Talano. “A nail that requires hand nailing slows the whole process down, and that means money out of the contractor’s pocket.”
That’s why Paslode set as its minimum standard for the PowerFramer 350 the ability to consistently drive a three-inch fastener into engineered lumber. Millions of test drives later, the new framer has effectively set a new power standard by which all future pneumatic framers will be measured.
“When we go back to jobsites now,” Talano adds, “users everywhere are giving us the same feedback – they simply can’t believe the increase in power.”
Features
In addition to all of the innovations that make the PowerFramer 350 tougher, more comfortable and faster, Paslode has packed the tool with the little details that users have grown to expect. Tool-less depth-of-drive adjustment and a dual mode (single or rapid cycles) trigger are standard. A convenient and well-thought-out retractable rafter hook is also included.
The PowerFramer 350 drives Paslode RoundDrive™ or standard clipped-head fasteners from 2-3.5” in length and from .113, .120 and .131 in diameter in smooth, ring shank, brite and hot-dipped galvanized finishes. Nail capacity is two full strips, or 84 paper-collated fasteners.
The PowerFramer 350 is available through authorized Paslode retail outlets nationwide. To learn more about the product or to find a dealer, users can visit www.paslode.com or call 1-800-222-6990.
